Hiya,
I've been playing since the U.S. release of FFXI and have been in the HNMLS Galleon since around April of 2005. I first started playing on the PC, switched to PS2, and just recently began to play on the PC again. My first job and what I will always consider my main job is white mage, with summoner being my second to 75.

While I was leveling white mage, I took a break around level 35 and began to play on another character, Antiochus, an Elvaan; this was caused by a couple of things. First off, I think at the time I thought that the task of getting teleport scrolls and other spells was too much for me and quite frankly, I felt that I had chosen the wrong race for my job. Second, I remember leveling in a party with a bard on black mage, for my sub job. He told the party that he was leveling the job because he had been stupid and leveled white mage to 40, which he told us was absolutely useless 40+. He went on and on about how bards replaced white mages as main healers then and when bards weren't available, it was red mage only. Well I didn't know any better, and took this as truth. So after these two events, I decided to level another job, on another character.

After getting to level 30 as Antiochus on THF, I realized that I would need to do the Ninja flag quest and get utsusemi: ichi, leaving me in the same position as I was when I played white mage: the task seemed too hard. Getting all that fame, sneaking around unnoticed, all impossible tasks, so it seemed to me, back then. So I decided it was time for me to quit. After a few months, of course, my "quitting time" was over and I began to play again. This prompted me to take up white mage again and revive Cadal, so that maybe I could find some help in these tasks that caused me to quit. Well, that's exactly what happened.

I was given a linkpearl by one of my old friends at the time to a linkshell, the name of which, regrettably, I can't remember. It had a few players higher than myself and some around the same level. With their help I was able to complete some of the tasks that I thought were far too difficult. So my white mage leveling continued. Unfortunately, when I was around level 50, the linkshell slowly disbanded. Without a linkshell for a while, I continued to level for a bit, until level 60 when someone from my old linkshell gave me a pearl to a new one, called Etheric Rose.

I still have the pearl just because it reminds me of one of the most fun times I had during the game. In the linkshell I found a static, consisting of Bellemel (DRK), Felwar (PLD), Muffles (RDM), Wolfrage was the name I think (A hume BLM), and a mithra samurai whose name I can't remember. The Mithra ended up not leveling with us because of monetary issues among other things, and Wolfrage soon quit the game after a few levels with us, but for what it's worth, he was a really nice guy. The four of us stayed together not only in exp, but in a few adventures, including fighting our first NM as a group (Yowie), completing CoP, and eventually joining Galleon. I don't consider myself as having too many close friends in the game who I can trust 100%, but these 3 would definetly be at the top of that list.

I completed RoZ sometime this year after having sky since I joined Galleon and finished CoP with Felwar, Bellemel, Muffles, Ean, and Royalblue; I'm hoping not to get behind on ToA this time.
